I am re-working on old files I made 2 years ago and find out that they have .out files and .trc files instead of .bak files.
Did I miss on some updates?
Those particular files are good inside the MG4.5 program but the macro result is weird with extra vectors and lines.

What is happening?

No, you did not miss anything.
In my experience, I get this files when something in my programming is faulty. I delete them and startagain with the .bak when all was okay. It makes sense to save between.
It happens in my experience when I call a measurement which could not be derived where I'm calling it. (Maybe that is where I mess up most).
But some prof can tell you more.

Hi Heidi, thanx for the explanation.It makes sense now. the file was faulty and created those weird extensions.
I didn't fully understand what you meant by derive a measurement.
I have redone the macro and I came to other problems. At the end, the text function is misbehaving.

If I enter a text, first, it doesn't appear when I test the macro and it change the shape of the object it is grouped with. It create an extra line towards the point I create to put the put on !!!!
It never happened to me before.

Maybe I have an old version. I had to do a master reset on my computer this year and might have installed an obsolete version.

I looked: My version is 4.5.2
so upgrade your MacGen.
To prove if it is a general bug, I have made me a little simple draft: an rectangle. If something acts wired I do it in this draft and mostly really mostly it is not the program.
I would test this with the text command.
It can be that something in your macro is a bit out of the right path but MacGen will work nevertheless. Then you add something and wow it goes wild.

Now the measurement. Example: In the progress of programming I found I needed a new measurement to be clearer. And I do it. Then I go back to a certain point and insert a new point using the new measurement. The program can't proceed because the measurement was not there at the time where the point now sits and demands it.
If the program reacts very strange it helps sometimes to delete the config file. MG.cfg. You will find it in the personal files in the folder Config. If you are not brave enough to delete it just rename it into .cfga or so). Now it is not longer found by MacGen but you can take the renaming back if you wish.
This file remembers the last configuration you had when you closed down. If you open it again it opens with this faulty config. If open it without a .cfg it will write a new one when closing..

Hello Coco,

When you have these files then you have in MacroGen used the Edited in PM command. Because then you are moving over to PM with your drawing and you can edit the drawing for instance you are rotating an object In PM. MG keeps track of that. in MG you can see then a (2) behind a point name becsuse a new point is made after the editing. You do not have to do anything with these files but MG is using them. So do not delete them. It is not a .bak file.

Hi Eugenie. thanx for your answer. I understand the going to and fro towards PM 7.5. I was not aware than they were generating files while doing so. I have erased most of those files and the Macro still work and the project file is still OK. I am a bit lost with that.
